Upbrook Mews

Standing here
I am startled
by the sheer space; brick and sky
rise up above,
towering high.

And in it you,
borrowed river,
frozen flow in time
now concrete
and only in mime
a bridge
of busy traffic.

  1. We live in Upbrook Mews! This is a wonderful find online. I was just researching about our new place and found your site.

    • Thank you; I’m so glad it came up. I walked down your street following the hidden Westbourne River just over a year ago. If you’re interested you should check out Tom Bolton’s excellent walkers’ guide, London’s Lost Rivers.
